South Bend, IN (Sports Network) – Cydney Clanton, a member of the victorious American Curtis Cup team, knocked off stroke-play medalist Ariya Jutanugarn, 1-up in Thursday’s third round of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship.

Jutanugarn was down late on the back nine, but squared the match with a birdie at 15. The two halved the next two holes with pars, but a Jutanugarn bogey at the last at The Warren Golf Club at Notre Dame gave Clanton the victory.

Clanton will meet Sara Grantham on Friday after Grantham won the 18th with a par to beat Allie White, 1-up.

Victoria Sungmin Park advanced to the quarterfinals after her 2 & 1 win over last year’s runner-up Kimberly Kim in the third round Thursday. Sungmin Park drew Emily Tubert on Friday after Tubert handled Annie Park, 4 & 3.

Argentina’s Martina Gavier needed 21 holes to pull out her victory over Caroline Powers. Gavier’s 1-up win earned her a quarterfinal match against Ellen Mueller, who moved on thanks to a 3 & 2 win over Joy Trotter.

Lisa McCloskey destroyed Rachel Rohanna, 6 & 5, to get into the quarters versus Brianna Do, who beat Stephanie Kono, 3 & 2.

The quarterfinals and semifinals are set for Friday, with the 36-hole final scheduled for Saturday.
